Khuliso Managa

Attorney

Profile

I am a Human Rights Attorney and Social Justice and Gender Activist. I obtained an LLB from Stellenbosch University where I majored in constitutional law, international law and social activism.

I completed my law articles/practicals in the private and commercial legal sector where I gained expertise in litigation, estates, tax, property, company and family law. It was in this space that I also gained a grassroots understanding of how women experience the justice system and what its shortcomings are when it comes to addressing broader societal challenges.

I now work in the public interest sector with a specific focus on women’s rights and access to healthcare. I am currently employed at the Women’s Legal Centre as an Attorney working in their Sexual and Reproductive Health focus area.

The WLC’s SRHR program focuses on ensuring that womxn are able to access sexual and reproductive health services in a manner that is non-coercive, free from violence and all forms of discrimination. We understand that accessing reproductive health care can be a complex and confusing task for womxn and that this has an impact on a womxn’s ability to make informed and autonomous decisions about their health care. There are also very few accountability mechanisms within the state health care system, so we take on projects and cases that promote and protect a woman’s right to make choices about their own reproductive health and litigate to ensure that womxn have fully realised access to reproductive health care.
